UX Designer

Job description

Why we want you

You hate boarding a plane, wrapping lights around a Christmas Tree or programming a microwave. Not because you’re scared of flying, festive foliage or frozen food – you just cannot un-see the terrible design flaws that usually go hand-in-hand with these processes. Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, you always identify ways to do things better, easier, or more efficiently.

Our core product is an online platform that allows users to perform a variety of tasks – from designing functional widgets to pulling reports, viewing analytics and managing their marketing, Hotelchamp puts a lot of varied functionality into the hands of hoteliers. Your mission with us is to make the workflow of these things more convenient and more effective for our users. You will fill the gap between tech and customer and deftly balance your commitment to our customer with the interests of our business.

As UX Designer at Hotelchamp you will play a key role in driving our product to a new stage in it’s life. We’re not talking about just testing button colours and CTA texts – you’ll be making fundamental changes to make sure our product works well, looks lovely and feels awesome to use. As a core member of the product team, you’ll work closely with the client success team and developers to create concepts, designs, user flows and helping us iterate to awesomeness.

What you’ll do with us

  • Fully be responsible for the user experience in the Hotelchamp platform

  • Be responsible for collecting user feedback and conducting user research to identify the insight and the “Why” to our design

  • Showcase design solutions for complex problems using UI models, user stories, wireframes, storyboards, visual mockups, and prototypes

  • Manage the design process by setting people’s expectations and driving decisions

  • Be part of the product team – working closely together with the development team and product owner

  • Collaborate with developers to iterate on and refine the existing experience

  • Take ownership of the company’s golden design standards

  • Report directly to the Founder & CMO of Hotelchamp

What makes you a Champ

  • Bachelor/Master degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in UX for (mobile) sites, apps or software
  • Strong skills in user research, design thinking, UX, interaction design, prototyping and UI design
  • Working experience with Scrum
  • Familiar with Photoshop, Illustrator and Sketch
  • Fluency in spoken English
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with UX/UI design for a SaaS platform will give you bonus points
  • A passion for agile, iterative development and calibrating processes
  • Tech savvy

What we give to you

  • A group of energetic, multicultural and totally good-looking colleagues (over 20 nationalities in a team of 60 people!)

  • The opportunity to carve your own signature into the growth story of Hotelchamp, one of the fastest growing startups in Europe

  • As the old guy in Spiderman says, with great power, comes great responsibility – take control of your development and guide where you want to take your career within the company

  • Thank God it’s Thursday – Thursday drinks with the whole team and Thursday company lunch on us

  • Some of the most competitive but poorly skilled ping-pong players in the world – prepare to be challenged (and probably victorious)

  • A huge office in B.amsterdam – the biggest start-up ecosystem in Europe for start-ups, creatives and corporates. Featuring two lounges, a gym, cinema, and rooftop bar/restaurant overlooking the city, B.Amsterdam is like a miniature Silicon Valley – but without all of the expensive real-estate or self-driving cars

What makes a Champ

You might have heard a lot of things about working in a startup. Honestly, we’re guilty of some of them – free drinks, a young team with funny accents from all over the world, and at least one of our developers has a beard. And also like a lot of start-ups, we’re growing super fast – we’ve quadrupled our team within a year, and like a cheetah on a skateboard going down a hill, we’re only going faster.

So what makes Hotelchamp different to other startups? The short answer is how we treat you. We celebrate the individual success of each and every employee, we’re just as interested in your development as our own, and we’ll absolutely push you to your limits – but never too far. We know that our company is only as good as the people who work here, so we only hire the best and the brightest. Because that’s what it takes to be a Champ.
